The Maharashtra police have registered a case against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Rohit Pawar for allegedly creating a fake Aadhaar card in the name of US President Donald Trump. The case was filed after BJP's social media cell co-convenor Dhananjay Waghaskar complained that Pawar had demonstrated how to create fake Aadhaar cards and voter IDs during a press conference on October 16.
During the press conference, Pawar had shown a website that allegedly created fake Aadhaar cards and voter IDs. He claimed that the ruling party was using such fake documents to manipulate the electoral process. Pawar alleged that the BJP-led NDA had lost the Lok Sabha elections the previous year but had managed to win the assembly elections through the use of fake voters.
Pawar claimed that the electoral rolls had been manipulated by adding fake names and deleting genuine ones. He alleged that between the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, 32 lakh voters had been added to the electoral rolls, which was an unusually high number. He also claimed that in his own constituency, Karjat Jamkhhed, 14,292 new voters had been added, while 5,360 had been deleted, resulting in 14,162 fake names being added to the electoral rolls.
The MLA alleged that the ruling party was using fake Aadhaar cards and voter IDs to manipulate the electoral process. He claimed that the Aadhaar card of a voter from one constituency was being used to register another voter in a different constituency, with the photo and name being changed.
The police have registered a case against Pawar under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act. Pawar's actions have sparked a controversy, with the BJP demanding action against him for allegedly promoting electoral malpractices.
