Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has passed away at the age of 89 in Mumbai on Monday, 24 November 2025, after a period of ill health. 

What happened

Dharmendra had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai in late October 2025 with breathing difficulties and other age‑related complications, and was discharged home around mid‑November with reports that he was recovering.  In the days leading up to 24 November, his condition reportedly worsened again, and he died at his Mumbai residence on Monday morning; his last rites are being performed at Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai.

Dharmendra was 89 years old at the time of his death and would have turned 90 on 8 December 2025. He is survived by his wife Hema Malini and his children, including actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Esha Deol. 

 Legacy mentioned in reports

News reports describe Dharmendra as one of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars, nicknamed the “He‑Man of Bollywood” and “Veeru” after his iconic role in Sholay. Over a six‑decade career he appeared in more than 300 films and received honours including the Padma Bhushan and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and his final film is reported to be Sriram Raghavan’s “Ikkis,” slated for a late‑2025 release.
