Dirty Picture: Who will play Silk in Telugu remake?

|| || , || Leave a comments

Mumbai: Ever since The Dirty Picture became a hit, there has been buzz about a South Indian remake. While there has been constant talk about South actress Nikita Thukral playing the lead in the south Indian version, the production house behind the Bollywood hit denies the buzz.
Swati Shetty, vice president of The Dirty Picture's production house, states, "After Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture, we'd rather have a known and established name for the remake, instead of a newcomer or not-so-well-known name."
Predictably, a couple of production houses from the South have approached the makers of the Vidya Balan-starrer for remake rights. "One of them is keen to cast Nikita Thukral as the protagonist in the Telugu version.

And they're planning to make it more scintillating than the Milan Luthria directed original," said a source. Swati confirmed that they had received a couple of offers for the remake rights. "But nothing has been finalised as yet. In fact, we will not just part with the remake rights, but also ensure we are involved as co-producers.
That way, we can also have creative control over the final product, with the essence and the soul of the storyline intact," she said adding that with nothing finalised, the question of Nikita being part of the remake doesn't arise

Now, a gel that could stop beard from growing!

|| || ,, || Leave a comments

Shaving could soon be a thing of the past, say scientists who claim to have developed a rub-on gel which could keep men stubble-free.
A team at the University of Pennsylvania says that early results from the experimental gel has showed it stops beard from growing -- in fact, it could also be applied to remove unwanted hair from women's legs.
The daily rub-on gel is made from a drug called cidofovir, which has been around for more than a decade and is widely used in high doses in the treatment of AIDS.
Doctors, however, found that the drug caused alopecia -- or lack of hair growth -- the faces of men who had it injected.
In their latest research, the scientists were interested to see if a gel made with different concentrations of the drug -- either one per cent or three per cent -- could stop hair growth completely, a media report said.
A group of 16 men, who grew beards that were classed as either dense or very dense, were recruited. Each was given either the one per cent strength gel or the three per cent gel to rub on a small circle on one side of the face every day.
On the other side they used an identical looking dummy gel with no drug in it.
The men were told to carry on shaving every day but to stop 48 hours before their scheduled visit to the clinic for assessment, so the effects on hair growth could be examined.

3 Movie Review, 3 Telugu Movie Review,3 Movie Review, 3 Film Review, Dhanush 3 Movie Review, 3 Movie Rating, 3 Movie Hit or flop

|| || ,,,,,, || Leave a comments

Finally the Wait is over…..The KOLAVERI movie is here….. ’3' hits the Screen,made by the ’3' great artists who are the predecessors of ’3' masters of Tamil Industry – Dhanush (son of Director KasthuriRaja who is also the producer of this movie),Shruti Hassan(Daughter of Kamalhassan), Aishwarya (Daughter of Rajnikanth as well as wife of Dhanush). Infact I didn’t find any other relation with this name and the movie….

The movie…its all about Ram (Dhanush) and Janani(Shruti) moving through all the feelings from their teenage +2 days till the tragedy after their marriage…and that is the suspense of the movie. The intro scene itself will give you a shock ,which is the funeral of Dhanush….ooohh ..I am sorry…I am not supposed this to say this…

The entire story runs in the Flashback….which is the real beauty and life of the movie. I am sure that everybody will resemble themselves to the teenage Ram who is driving a Yamaha RX100 bike,waiting under the tree for a passing look from the girl,joining the Tuition class with the best friend only to be with her for some time,and avoiding the best friend to have a ride in his bike with Girl friend…etc..etc.. These are the things to be highlighted about the 1st half,which made the movie…i should say THE BEST…

The 2nd half completely turns the mood and take you to another genre, which is the masterpiece of National Award Winner Dhanush – A Psychological Thriller. I really doubt about this phase which can entertain all the type of Audience because of a big transition,which is providing a Hot and Cold treatment with romance and bipolar disorder.

Dhanush lived in the character Ram,which resembles him to his ‘Thulluvatho Ilamai’ looks and ‘Kathal Kondein’ attitude. Shruti Hassan proved her acting skills specially in her teenage girl phase. Aishwarya surprised with her direction ability in the debut movie which is really appreciable. The main personality to be mentioned in Anirudh, the music Director. The boy made the world to dance with his Kolaveri Steps, pushed this movie to the next level with amazing background Scores. The BGM is a spicy add on to all the best scenes in this movie. There is a special applause goes to the parental characters did by Prabhu,Bhanupriya and Rohini. Altogether this is something changed the conventional patterns of tamil movie.Really Fresh.

Suniel Shetty's bond with Sachin Tendulkar

|| || || Leave a comments

When Sachin Tendulkar broke the nervous 90 jinx to hammer the 100th ton in Mirpur on Friday, actor Suniel Shetty was in Delhi to attend a conference.

While juggling a hectic schedule, Anna kept a close tab on Sachin's record-breaking innings against Bangladesh

In fact, the actor even locked himself inside his hotel room in the final hour and refused to leave the TV set, determined to see Sachin in his winning moment.

When the master blaster hit that mark, Suniel reacted, "It's an emotional moment. Our prayers have finally been answered."

"I was in Delhi to attend a conference but I sought time out from there to watch the match. There was no chance I could have missed Sachin's crucial innings. Sachin often says, 'People sometimes throw stones at you and you convert them into milestones'. Today, he has proved his own words right. Despite being run down by people since a year now for not hitting this crucial ton, he didn't quit. I had to rush for a physiotherapy conference for which I visited Delhi, otherwise I would have danced for at least half-an-hour."

When asked how he would celebrate the win, the actor replied, "Since Sachin is part of IPL'sMumbai Indians, a team I am a fan of, I am sure the team has plans to toast his feat in a big way... I will join in on the fun."

Hansika Motwani for a cause

Hansika Motwani is one actress who wears her heart on her sleeve. The 20-year-old had earlier celebrated her birthday by adopting 20 street kids in Mumbai. Now the actress has been signed up as a brand ambassador for an old age home in Mumbai.

"I am very thrilled to be associated with this project. I always wanted to build an old-age-home myself, so I immediately jumped at this chance. We have a lot of old people in our country, who are left homeless. If I can use my celebrity status to make a difference to the lives of some needy people, I would be very pleased," says Hansika, who adds that she is planning to hold an exhibition of her paintings and donate the proceeds to the charity.

Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s next film

|| || || Leave a comments

Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan will come together again after five years (their last release being "OSO" in 2007) in the film "Happy New Year", directed by Farah.
Says a source, "After the fight SRK had with Farah's husband Shirish Kunder at Sanjay Dutt's party in February, the duo patched up. They even met a few times at home after that. It was during one of Farah's visits to Mannat that they talked about working together again. Before SRK left for a 40-day schedule to London for his next film, Farah narrated the script and he instantly said yes. Apart from his wife Gauri, SRK's close friends Kaajal Anand and Karan Johar have been instrumental in bringing the warring duo back together."
Adds the source, "Farah even went to London for two days recently to seal the dates and complete other formalities. The film is being touted as the baap of "Main Hoon Naa" and will be a wholesome entertainer."
Why They Fell Out
The former best buddies parted ways personally and professionally some years ago when SRK kept Shirish's film hanging for five years, before ultimately deciding not to do it. Farah took it personally. Things got worse when she cast Akshay Kumar in "Tees Maar Khan" and announced it without informing Shah Rukh, which obviously did not go down well with him.
Matters came to a head when late last year, post the release of "RA.One", Shirish posted sarcastic comments about the film on his social networking page, irking SRK. The duo then got into that infamous fight at Dutt's party, followed by a tearful reunion at Shah Rukh's home a day later, where they hugged and made up.
Looks like all is truly well between them now, and they are expected to announce the film once Shah Rukh returns from London.

Tendulkar scores landmark century of centuries

Sachin Tendulkar scored his 49th one-day century and the 100th ton of his illustrious international career against Bangladesh at Dhaka in the fourth match of the Asia Cup today.

Tendulkar, who is now in the 23rd year of his international career had been searching for this landmark century since 12 March 2011.

India lost the wicket of Gautam Gambhir in the sixth over of the match when Shafiul Islam clean bowled the left-handed opening batsman; but Tendulkar and Virat Kohli (66) then added 148 runs for the second wicket.

Tendulkar scored his half-century in 63 balls with a lofted drive over extra cover off Shakib Al Hasan; this was also his first 50 since the 85 he scored against Pakistan in the semi-finals of the 2011 World Cup. Tendulkar, who was the first batsman to score a double century in ODIs, reached the three-figure mark when he took a single from a Shakib Al Hasan delivery in the 44th over of India's innings. He took 138 deliveries to score his century, which is one of his slowest in ODIs, but the occasion was so historic that it
shouldn't take the sheen off the landmark.

He celebrated the landmark by glancing at the sky and pointing to the Indian flag on his helmet before he was embraced by Suresh Raina, who was with him in the middle at the team. The Bangladesh players also ran up to congratulate Tendulkar on his achievement even as the crowd went into raptures.

Tendulkar scored 114 from 147 balls before he was caught behind off Mashrafe Mortaza's bowling in the 47th over of India's innings which ended at 289-5 in their allotted 50 overs.

Talking to Neo Cricket after India's innings, Tendulkar said it has been a tough phase for him even though he started the season batting reasonably well. Tendulkar said the hype around his 100th international century was started by the media and he was asked about it wherever he went - be it restaurants, hotels or ordered room service. He conceded the moment hadn't sunk in yet, and added: "Dreams do come true. I had to wait for one for 22 years (to win the World Cup)."

India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was amongst the first to wish Tendulkar and said he has made the country proud. "Tendulkar's long career has been a triumph of class, character and courage. I wish him many more innings and feats to continue inspiring the youth," Singh said in a press release.

Tendulkar was also congratulated by ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat said he is a marvel to cricket lovers around the world, adding he is a true role model. "On behalf of every cricket fan around the globe I congratulate Sachin on becoming the first person to score 100 centuries for his country. This is indeed a magnificent feat and not likely to be easily emulated," Lorgat was quoted as saying in an ICC release.

Lorgat also said: "Like millions of others I have personally followed his career ever since he first played for India as a gifted 16-year-old and now, more than two decades later, his passion and personal records, which include more than 33,000 runs at international level, is a modern day wonder."

Tendulkar scored his first international century - 119* - against England at Old Trafford in August 1990; while his first ODI century (110) came against Australia at Colombo on 9 September 1994.

He scored the 99th century of his career against South Africa at Nagpur during the 2011 World Cup, but had failed to get to the three-figure mark in his last 33 innings; which included away Test series in England and Australia; a home Test series against West Indies and the Commonwealth Bank tri-series in Australia.

Tendulkar scored 12 centuries in 1998 - the most he has in a year in his career. He has scored eight centuries in three different years (1996, 1999 and 2010).

Tendulkar, who is the most capped player in Tests and ODIs, holds an array of batting records including for the most runs and centuries scored in those two formats of the game.

In his 188 Tests, Tendulkar has scored 15470 runs, including 51 centuries; and in his 462 ODIs, the batting maestro has scored 18,374 runs, including 49 centuries.

Tendulkar has scored 1000 or more runs in a calendar six times - 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2008, 2010. He has also scored 1,000 or more ODI runs in a calendar year seven times - 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2007.

Osmania University students want beef in hostel mess

|| || ,, || Leave a comments

HYDERABAD: The politics of food is now breaking out on the 'T' struck Osmania University campus. Asserting their food culture, a large bunch of Dalit students have asked the administration to serve beef in their hostel mess. In a petition submitted to university's vice chancellor, S Satyanarayana, the students have stated that their food habits were ridiculed and insulted on the campus as members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) disrupted an attempt to cook beef in New Research Scholars' Hostel on March 11.

Challenging the 'casteist food culture', the students will also hold a beef festival in front of Osmania University (OU) Arts College in April. During the festival, cooked beef will be served and is being conducted as part of the birth anniversary celebrations of national leaders like B R Ambedakar (April 14), Jyotiba Phule (April 11) and Babu Jagjivan Ram (April 5), who were anti-caste ideologues. The university administration, though aware of the petition has not given permission to conduct such a festival.

The Dalit students form the second largest caste group with 2,000 members on OU campus. The campus which has a total student strength of 8,000 has about 4,000 OBC and 1,000 tribal students. "We decided to conduct such a public meeting as there have been several instances in the past where we were humiliated because of our food habits. Dalit PG students were rebuked and even roughed up by others when they cooked any non-vegetarian food in hostels during certain festival days," said Sudarshan, a research scholar enrolled in Arts College. Observers said that this is the second time that the Dalit students of OU have come together to assert their identity. In 2011, students had organised a unique Dasara celebration on campus, where Ravana, the mythical character symbolising Dalit identity, was glorified.

When asked whether the OU administration will give permission for beef festival, OU vice chancellor said that the matter is sensitive and hence a decision cannot be taken in haste. "We have asked some faculty members to talk to the students. We are trying to get things under control," said S Satyanarayana, vice chancellor, OU. He said that the issue came to his notice when some sections of the student community on campus complained about the same. "On March 11, I requested some senior teachers to get in touch with them and asked them to stop the exercise as this would create tension on campus," said Satyanarayana. Experts said the beef festival will face serious opposition on campus.

Jaganmohan's assets case: SC notice to 6 Andhra ministers, 8 IAS officers

|| || || Leave a comments
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to 6 Andhra Pradesh ministers and 8 IAS officers on a plea alleging that the CBI was not proceeding against them despite having sufficient evidence that they helped former Congress leader Y Jaganmohan Reddy accumulate massive illegal assets.

A bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari issued the notices to the ministers and the IAS officers and sought their stands on the petition filed by an advocate, Sudhakar Reddy.

The petitioner alleged that these six ministers and eight IAS officers were also holding ministerial and other key positions under the then chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, during whose tenure his son Jaganmohan accumulated huge wealth, disproportionate to his legal income.

Reddy, in his petition, said even though the CBI had registered a number of cases against several others in the disproportionate assets case against Jagan Mohan Reddy, but it failed to register any case against these 14 persons.

The notice was issued to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), six Andhra Pradesh ministers and eleven IAS officers serving in the state at the time.

An apex court bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari issued notice on a petition by Nellore-based advocate Sudhakar Reddy seeking a probe into the government orders favouring Jaganmohan Reddy, a Lok Sabha MP.

The petitione has challenged a Andhra Pradesh high court order rejecting a probe. A special CBI court in Hyderabad had also rejected the plea.

Sudhakar Reddy contended that the investigation into the disproportionate assets could not be confined to Jaganmohan Reddy, but should also include the role of the ministers and bureaucrats in facilitating his business dealings.

Women are blessed with a unique power: Vidya Balan

|| || || Leave a comments
Vidya Balan gets candid and speaks on the power of women and issues which inspire her to be who she is. Excerpts from the interview...

Women power We have moved ahead in a lot of ways. Today women are asserting themselves and claiming their rights. However, this does not hold true for every part of the country. Women, especially in rural areas, are still deprived of basic rights such as education and have no control over their lives. We have made great progress but there is lot more which needs to be done. Women are blessed with energy - a power which is unique. I have been very fortunate to have played strong women and explored their strengths through my films.

Accepting who you are As women we are constantly criticising and judging ourselves in terms of our body, how we dress, what profession we take up, how we fare in that. Indian women are gifted with certain body types and features which is healthy and we should accept that.

Size zero doesn't matter For me there has been no acceptable body type. Look at actors of yesteryears like Mumtaz, Rekhaji... everyone had their individual style. One should celebrate one's own self the way you are. And when you accept yourself, everyone accepts you. And I'm saying this after going through a confused phase in life myself.

I know nothing about fashion I went through a period of body image consciousness or adhering to 'a certain style' or fashion. But I am grateful to God that I went through that phase to be what I am today. I'm not fashionable and I know nothing about fashion, but I have my individual style and style is eternal.

Achieving my dreams My biggest dream was to become an actor and I have achieved my dream now. There is so much of critical acclaim for my films and such wonderful things are being said about me. People told me 'you are unconventional and this doesn't work forever, so it's just a fluke'. I thought before it turns out to be a fluke let me safeguard myself by adhering to the norms, but that was my biggest pitfall.

My inspiration I would say Shabana Azmi. I always wanted to do the kind of work Shabanaji did. Jayaji (Bachchan) is another person I'm in awe of. I believe she must have also undergone a lot of pressure to look glam, but she created her own style.

Am I the hero? I feel flattered when I hear people say I am the hero of the films I work in. But having said that my career has been following a unique course from the start. Today women are more comfortable in their skin; society is less judgmental. You will see more grey shades in films rather than black or white today. I'm here at the right time and making the most of it.

Protagonist/vamp/sex symbol A protagonist is the one who makes you believe in the story being told, a sex symbol makes you want her and as far as vamps are concerned I don't believe in the concept.

We should be ashamed of ourselves: Rishi Kapoor

|| || || Leave a comments

Last month while attending a Bollywood event at the London School of Economics Rishi Kapoor, never known to mince words, got into a heated argument with Rachel Dwyer-yes, the same Bollywood expert who has researched extensively on Hindi films and actors.

Apparently the well-informed lady argued with Rishi Kapoor over a vital question: which is Rishi Kapoor's first film? Every record of his achievements states it is 'Mera Naam Joker'. But Rachel Dwyer with her vast storehouse of knowledge on Hindi cinema, insisted it was 'Shree 420' where Rishi along with his brother Randhir and sister Reema made a fleeting appearance.

Apparently the question blew up into a heated argument between the actor and film historian with neither willing to concede defeat.

Rishi doesn't deny that he took on Ms Dwyer. "How can she claim 'Shree 420' was my debut? I was just a 2-year old kid cajoled into moving across one a frame for a song in the rain. I was so reluctant to shoot in the studio rain! Nargisji had to coax me into giving the shot with a chocolate. I wasn't even aware of what I was doing. So how can 'Shree 420' be considered my debut? It was only when I did 'Mera Naam Joker' with my father that I became aware of what it takes to be an actor."

The retrospect and a discussion on the cinema of Rishi Kapoor at the London School of Economics last week has left the actor stunned and dismayed. Prof Rachel Dwyer a Bollywood expert who teaches at the University of London, left Rishi stumped with her knowledge of Indian cinema and actors.

Apparently Prof Dwyer knew things about Rishi's career that he was himself unaware of. Says the still-stunned actor, "This Prof. Dwyer knows so much about our films. She speaks fluent Hindi and sang the entire Jan gan man. It made me feel ashamed of how little our own actors and technicians know about our past. The other day I was shooting with one of today's young and bright cinematographers (name withheld) . He didn't know who Radhu Karmakar was. Can you beat that!"

Big B praises Paan Singh Tomar, calls it true biopic

|| || || Leave a comments

Director Tigmanshu Dhulia and actor Irrfan Khan have receive heaps of praise from Amitabh Bachchan for their film Paan Singh Tomar. The megastar describes the movie as inspiring and fitting tribute to unsung heroes and truly a biopic.

Paan Singh Tomar tells the tale of the former national steeplechase champion-turned-bandit. Released Friday, the film features Irrfan in the title role.

"A fulfilling day! Saw an inspiring film, Paan Singh Tomar directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and enacted by a whole cast of fresh and very talented players, led by that incredible performer Irrfan. Such restraint in direction and performance, but such an impression on the nature of the subject. A biopic true to life and detail," the 69- year-old posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

"...this is a true story, of a man from Madhya Pradesh...The tribute to the unsung hero, lists various prominent sportsmen who brought glory on International platforms for the country, but died penniless. Some even having to sell off their gold medal to survive. Such a moving tale," he added.

Amitabh, who is currently recuperating at home from his abdominal surgeries, feels the movie is a tribute to unsung heroes.

"A wonderful tribute to the many unsung sports heroes of the nation, who contribute so much for the Motherland both within and and on International platforms, yet are left in penury to pass away, unnoticed, uncared for," he said.

He also requested the government to support sportspersons.

"...the first thought that comes to mind is to lend support to those that find themselves in such condition. To plead with the system to show some compassion and respect for the glory they brought for us, so we could stick our chests out in pride and look after them in their hour of need instead of leaving them in dire straits to perish without any honour," he wrote.

Vidya Balan saved from falling on train tracks

|| || || Leave a comments

Vidya Balan had almost lost her life while shooting for her new film Kahaani.

The actress had almost fallen on the tracks at the Kolkata metro station during the shoot. Fortunately, film's director Sujoy Ghosh came to her rescue and saved her from falling onto the tracks.

"When we were shooting we had security guards across the platform. It went pitch perfect, not a single thing out of place. While we were paying attention to other things, the only person we forgot was Vidya. But she is an adult. She is supposed to take care of herself. There was a scene where she was running backwards on the platform. She bumped against a weighing machine. She tripped and was about to fall onto the tracks. Seeing that she was about to fall, we immediately rushed to her. When she is giving her shot she forgets everything else," said Sujoy Ghosh while recalling the incident.

"There was nothing heroic about it. Since, I was behind the camera I could see what was going to happen. I just had the quick sight to rush and save her from falling," he added.

So did the incident cause an interruption? The director explained, "Vidya said 'Oh cool I got saved, lets get back on the job.'"

"You take a lot of precautions for other people but you take your own folks for granted. We took the precaution for everybody else. We just forgot Vidya," he added.

Vidya, who was last seen in a sexy avatar in hit film The Dirty Picture, plays the role of a six-month pregnant woman in Kahaani.

Andhra speaker disqualifies 16 Jagan loyalists

|| || , || Leave a comments

Hyderabad: Ending the long suspense, the Andhra Pradesh assembly speaker on Friday disqualified 16 rebel lawmakers belonging to the ruling Congress party who were loyal to YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
The speaker has also accepted the resignation of another Jagan loyalist Shoba Nagi Reddy of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP).
A statement about the disqualification was released from the office of speaker Nandendla Manohar on Friday night.
Congress had sought the disqualification of the legislators for violating the party whip and voting in favor of opposition Telugu Desam Party's no-confidence motion against the government in the assembly last December.
With the speaker's move, 17 seats in 294-member house have fallen vacant. The election commission will now initiate the process to fill the vacancies by holding by-elections within six months.

The critics had written me off: Bipasha Basu

|| || || Leave a comments

Her glam avatar in a recent film proved that she is still in the reckoning, says Bipasha Basu.....
After the disastrous outcome of her last film Players at the BO, Bipasha Basu claims that she did the film to silence critics, who had written her off after a ho-hum 2011. "Last year, I had done some arthouse films and a section of the media and critics had written me off," she says, adding, "That question needed to be answered and I did it with Players. I wanted to tell them that I am here to stay. It was a film that relied heavily on fashion and my look in the film was appreciated. I think I fit the action genre nicely," she says. As for the film being a dud, she adds, "The final outcome of the film is never in an actor's hands and it's not a given that every film is going to do well."

Bipasha also put to rest rumours about her film Singularity, opposite Josh Harnett, which has been in the making for a very long time. "The media played up the news about Singularity. There was some crisis with the film, but everything's been sorted now. I'm going to shoot the rest of my scenes in April and the film will release later this year," says Bipasha, who will work on Raaz 3 after completing Singularity.

"Raaz has a lot of lust, love and fear. That's how director Vikram Bhatt described the film to me. There is a certain freshness in my pairing with Emraan Hashmi," says Bipasha, who has coloured her hair a sexy red for the role. Films apart, ask her about TV actor and ex-Bigg Boss inmate Kamaal Rashid Khan's tweet about her Bipasha number, in which he said 'Believe me I go crazy when Bipasha move her b**bs on the song Bipasha', and she says, "There is a lot of filth in this world and I don't think we should give these filthy, lecherous remarks any importance."

rana-daggubati-department-will-be-rgvs-most-stylish-film

|| || || Leave a comments

Ram Gopal Varma’s past few projects have failed to rock the box office, but actor Rana Daggubati, who has teamed up with the director in Department, is confident that this film will turn out to be one of RGV’s most stylish movies

“Ramu (Varma) dabbles in a lot of genres of films. He is very good with his work, and has a wonderful storytelling pattern, which is most often trendsetting. His film Satya broke stereotype, and Company gave Vivek Oberoi such a great launchpad…I think Department will be one of his most stylish film ever shot,” said Rana Daggubati.

In Department, the southern star will be seen as a grungy policeman – a role that was earlier reserved for Abhishek Bachchan. The film’s characters include a don, a gangster, a gangster-turned-politician, and shootout specialists. No wonder it was exciting for Rana to work in it! “I think Ramu is one filmmaker who has complete understanding of the subject he tackles in his films and likes to accumulate extensive knowledge before venturing out into each theme. Be it underworld or any other subject, his films speak of the research he does. Usually Ramu shoots his films quickly, but he has spent a lot of time on Department, which is great. It’s a project close to him, and it has been a fantastic experience working with him,” he added.

Rana, who made his Bollywood debut in Dum Maro Dum, will be seen with Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt in the movie, releasing on May 18. He is also upbeat about the action sequences in the film. “Department is a heavy-duty action film. I trained a lot for it, and the training was just in the gym. It had a lot to do with martial arts, and I easily had 10 to 15 action sequences. So it was fun,” said the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile he has also been occupied with the dubbing of Telugu film Naa Ishtam, in which he is paired opposite the recently-married Genelia D’Souza. “I play a young, brash boy in Naa Ishtam….very different from Department, in which each line that my character says, is measured. Naa Ishtam is a commercial project…I am playing my age, and it was wonderful to work with Genelia. She is way more experienced than I am, but we had a great time,” said the actor, who enjoys the diverse content offered to him.

“I made an unconventional debut with Dum Maro Dum. As a launch film, it was different as opposed to others, who would go for a romantic project. So I am happy,” he added. So are we wink wink!
